Graduate student Gaofeng Jia wins best student paper competition in EMI/PMC 2012

Gaofeng Jia won the first place award in the “Best student paper competition” organized by the Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI) Probabilistic Methods Committee in the 2012 Joint Conference of the Engineering Mechanics Institute and 11th ASCE Joint Specialty Conference on Probabilistic Mechanics and Structural Reliability (EMI/PMC 2012), held at Notre Dame June 17-20 2012. His paper, co –authored by Professor Taflanidis, was titled “Efficient Hurricane Risk Assessment using Kriging Metamodel”. The decision of the committee was based on scientific quality of paper as well as effectiveness of oral presentation.
