American Society of Civil Engineers Activity Award

 

AISC/Indiana Fabricators Association Scholarship
To a senior civil engineering student who has demonstrated excellence and understanding in steel design, fabrication, or construction methods.

 

College of Engineering Steiner Award
Top senior student in the department, not just based on grades, but also based on involvement in the department and any other attributes the College of Engineering finds deserving. 

 

Gibran Kareem Research Prize 
To a senior civil engineering student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship through undergraduate research.

 

Walter L. Shilts Award for Undergraduate Achievement
To a senior civil, environmental engineering or environmental earth sciences student who has best fulfilled their potential through hard work and dedication to obtaining the best possible education. Walter L. Shilts served as a professor of mathematics from 1922-1933. 

 

Leroy D. Graves Academic Improvement Award
To a senior civil, environmental engineering, or environmental earth sciences student for significant development in academic performance. 

 

Sydney Kelsey Outstanding Scholar Award
To a senior civil, environmental engineering, or environmental earth sciences student for excellence and creativity in academics. Sydney Kelsey served as a professor of civil engineering at the University of Notre Dame starting in 1967. Previously he taught at Imperial College in London.  

 

James A. McCarthy Scholarship
Junior civil, environmental engineering or environmental earth sciences student for outstanding academic and professional excellence.

 

The Kenneth R. Lauer Award
Given each year to a senior civil, environmental engineering, or environmental earth sciences student for leadership, integrity, and service to fellow students and community as determined by his or her classmates. Lauer served as a civil engineering professor. 

 

Dr. Raymond C. Gutschick Award 
To the graduating senior who has demonstrated the most promise in environmental earth sciences or environmental engineering research as evidenced by a successful undergraduate research project. Gutschick served as a geology professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering & Earth Sciences from 1947-1979. He served as the department chairman from 1956-1970. 

 

Reverend Alexander Kirsch, C.S.C. Award
To the senior in civil and environmental engineering and earth sciences who has evidence high qualities of personal character, scholarship, and leadership. Kirsch served as a professor of biology at the University of Notre Dame from 1874-1918.

 

Peter E. Getchell Award

 

Joseph "Bud" Ahearn Leadership Award
To a graduating civil or environmental engineering senior who has demonstrated the leadership qualities Bud embodied with humility and respect for others, and that he frequently verbalized: "Great leaders love to build and to belong to a potent human force so significant that they can make their purpose happen."
