Public Transportation provides direct economic, social and health, and environmental benefits. Some of these benefits are easier to see than others, such as understanding that ridership on public transit means people are not driving their cars around, resulting in reduced emissions and road congestion. Other benefits, though, are not as obvious on a day-to-day basis and require stepping back and evaluating an area over multiple years.

Emily Ng is currently a project manager at Mass. Electric, which is a subsidiary of Kiewit that specializes in constructing transit rail systems. She graduated from Notre Dame in 2014 with a degree in civil engineering, and has worked for Mass. Electric ever since. She grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and currently resides in Maryland, just outside of DC. She and her husband enjoy traveling and spending time with family. In recent years they have hiked the W trek in Patagonia and have prepared meals for elephants at a sanctuary in Thailand.
