Andrew Bartolini, a graduate student in the Structural DYNAmics and MOnitoring (DYNAMO) Lab, was recently named the recipient of the 2015-16 Structural Engineers Foundation Graduate Scholarship. Under the direction of advisor Dr. Tracy Kijewski-Correa, Andrew's research focuses on the development of innovative tools to support the design and validation of tall buildings. These tools encompass the use of rapidly-deployable full-scale monitoring units for validating in-situ behaviors and for enabling heuristics-driven finite element model updating. By complementing these with crowd sourcing strategies, Andrew’s work captures trends and assumptions made in modern design practice, including the perceived performance from the perspective of occupants.

The Structural Engineers Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization established to advance structural engineering through education and research. The Foundation is funded by individual engineers, engineering firms, and other businesses and organizations associated with engineering and construction.
