Graduate students Andrew Bartolini and Maria Gibbs both won the 2015 Ammann Fellowship by ASCE’s Structural Engineering Institute. Fellowship recognizes the contribution of Andrew in “Developing rapidly-deployable full-scale monitoring units for validating in-situ behaviors and for enabling heuristics-driven finite element model updating ” and of Maria in “Modeling and monitoring of suspension foot-bridges in the developing world”.  This marks the fourth consecutive year that a Notre Dame structural engineering graduate student won the prestigious fellowship, and the second time within this span that two students won the award in the same year.
