Career advice and lessons learned from 25 years as a Civil Engineer, Rehabilitating and Constructing our Nation’s Infrastructure

Dennis J. Murphy, Kiewit Infrastructure Co.

Mr. Murphy will discuss his rewarding career in civil engineering after graduation from Marquette University in 1998. Dennis has had the opportunity to work on several small- and large-scale building, transportation, and infrastructure projects for both Clark Construction Group and Kiewit Infrastructure Co. Each project has presented very unique learning opportunities for Dennis along the way.

Dennis will walk you through his career, describe the rewarding projects he has worked on and the challenges they posed, while also offering advice for you as you near the start of your career.

Dennis J. Murphy is a senior quality manager with Kiewit Infrastructure Co. based in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. Dennis has 26 total years in the industry after graduating with a BSCE from Marquette University in 1998 and an MBA in 2002.

Dennis is a Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence per the American Society for Quality, and also is a licensed Professional Engineer in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Dennis has had the opportunity to work on some of our country’s most important infrastructure projects primarily in the Chicago and Washington, DC metropolitan areas. Dennis and his wife Karen have 3 daughters and reside in Sterling, VA.
