Located on the site of the iconic Hudson’s, Detroit’s premier department store that was demolished in 1998, the Hudson’s Development is expected to be a catalyst for downtown Detroit’s revival. The new development is over 1 million square feet and is comprised of three distinct structures – the Block, the Tower, and the Plaza, each with distinct program and structural systems. This discussion will review some of the challenges as well as successes of the project that is changing the skyline of Detroit.
