Eric Horvath graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He received a Master of Science in Administration from Notre Dame in 2001. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana.

Horvath started his career working as an environmental engineer for the City of Elkhart, Indiana, and became the Public Works Director in 2000. After leaving Elkhart in 2006, Horvath went to work at American Structurepoint as their North Regional Services Manager. He specialized in water, sewer, transportation, and environmental engineering design.

Most recently, Mr. Horvath serves as the Public Works Executive Director for the City of South Bend, Indiana, and teaches as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. As Public Works Director, he is responsible for engineering, transportation, wastewater, water, and solid waste with an annual budget of over $100 million.
