Kirstin Sockwell
Assistant Research Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences
Areas of Interest
Professor Sockwell’s research interests focus on developing new actinide chemistry with an emphasis on the nuclear fuel cycle. Her work aims to bridge the gap between organic and inorganic chemistry to enhance understanding of the basic science behind actinide separations leading to the creation of novel separation science. Her projects involve understanding the interaction between the actinides and organic molecules and the mechanisms impacting complex stability, such as photocatalytic and radiolytic degradation.
